The Kingston & St. Andrew and The Pedro Cays Development Order proposal datasets are meticulously managed by the Local Area Planning Branch within the Spatial Planning Division of the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA). These datasets comprise polygon features and encompass a wealth of attribute information, including Local Planning Areas and the type of applications submitted—ranging from agricultural and residential to commercial, resort, and residential/agricultural.
The creation of this comprehensive dataset involved a multi-faceted approach. It integrated information from various sources, including data from land use surveys conducted within the development order area, Committed Lands details extracted from the AMANDA database, parcels obtained from the National Land Agency's Fiscal Land Parcels dataset, and insights gathered through consultations with the public and private sectors, as well as citizens residing within the order area.
The Kingston & St. Andrew and The Pedro Cays Development Order, initially provisionally established in 2017 and subsequently confirmed in 2023, plays a pivotal role in empowering Local Planning Authorities and The Town and Country Planning Authority to regulate land developments within the order area boundary. This, in turn, fosters the enhancement of the development approval process.
