All the Negril and Green Island proposal datasets are maintained by the Local Area Planning Branch within the National Spatial Startegy Division of NEPA. The dataset maintains polygon features and attribute information such as Local Planning Areas and type of application e.g. Agricultural, residential, commercial, resort, residential/agricultural etc. The dataset is captured using the technique of land use survey and parcels acquired from the National Land Agency's Fiscal Land Parcels.The Negril and Green Island 2013 is to enable the Local Planning Authorities, The Negril and Green Island town and Country Planning Authority is to regulate land developments within the order area boundary thereby encouraging the improvement of the development approval process.

The Negril and Green IslandDevelopment order will make provision for the orderly and progressive development of the Negril and Green Island area, providing a proper balance between the various demands for land. In addition to that the Negril and Green Island development order seeks to protect and procure areas of ecological, historical and recreational significance for public use, whilst properly integrating local plans by setting in broad development guidelines as well as providing for adequate utilities within the parish/area and the improvement of environmental quality in the parish/area.
