Description:
The Canadian National Wetland Inventory British Columbia (CNWI-BC) is an amalgamated dataset that includes all CNWI National data within BC as well as additional BC-specific fields and domains to capture unique attributes and categories as described in various BC classification systems (RIC 1998; RISC 2023; BCMFR and MOE 2010; MacKenzie and Moran 2004; MacKenzie 2012, etc.) and to ensure integration with provincial datasets. The CNWI-BC is published on an as needed basis when additional data is available and compiled. The Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS) Pacific will integrate CNWI-BC data to the CNWI National Product periodically.

The Canadian National Wetland Inventory BC (CNWI-BC) layer is consumed by the BC Wetlands Web Map in the BC Wetlands Explorer Tool (BCWET) Application.

Background:
The Canadian National Wetland Inventory (CNWI) is a national initiative to compile, process, and publish the best available wetland mapping and field validated data throughout Canada. The CNWI aims to map all natural, constructed, and managed wetlands in both freshwater and coastal marine systems. The CNWI National spatial product and the CNWI National User Manual are available for download on the Government of Canada’s Open Data Portal.
