Service Description: This map explores the relationship between percentage of mobile homes and the female life expectancy in every county of the contiguous USA. A bivariate choropleth method is taken to visualize both sets of data at the same time with mobile home percentages being represented by blue and female life expectancy represented by red. Typically, those who are poverty stricken tend to live in mobile homes. Here the mobile home percentage is being used as a proxy for poverty. It is also true that females are slightly more likely to be under the poverty level than males. Since poverty tends to shorten ones life, the map aims to identify any trends in mobile home percentage and length of female life. This is a preliminary correlation study, meaning any trends must be further analyzed.
Data Sources:
Shapefile with mobile home percentage per county was sourced from NOAA.
Female life expectancy data was sourced from Global Burden of Disease (GBD).
