Asiatic_garden_beetle_range (FeatureServer)

View In:   Map Viewer

Service Description: The Asiatic Garden Beetle (Maladera castanea) dataset is a presence/absence dataset that also delineates where the insect has become a crop pest. It has historically targeted turfgrass and ornamentals, but has switched to corn and some soybean varieties in the last 10 years. Although datasets with confirmed observations exist (https://www.gbif.org/species/1053025), the range of this species is well-documented and is a known pest across the Eastern and Midwest regions. Therefore, the limited observations do not provide the more telling range information supported in the referenced document.
