Description:

Percent Peak Single Trucks is the percentage of the total AADT that is single unit truck traffic during the peak traffic hour, as determined through measurements using traffic counter devices. The value is calculated by dividing the total combination truck traffic during the peak hour by the AADT for all vehicle types.

Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) represents the average traffic expected on a typical day of the year. Single unit trucks are any trucks that meets the requirements established for the FHWA Truck Classification Method for Categories 4 through 7. Refer to the Federal Highway Administration website for more information about truck classifications.

Reported Extent: All sample panel sections. Sample panel sections are any roadways, or parts of roadways, that were identified by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) as requiring additional data to be reported in the 2024 HPMS report. Values may be available for other roads but are not actively maintained.
