Description:

Engineering stations are used as calibration points when building projects, allowing for engineering quality accuracy when entering project information into the Arizona Transportation Information System (ATIS), which is ADOT's GIS system of record for roadway data. They are measured in feet from the beginning of a roadway, or milepost zero of the cardinal direction roadway. Note: cardinal direction refers to the direction of increasing mileposts.

Engineering stations are reviewed and updated with each new roadway construction project. To keep stations as consistent as possible along a roadway, station equations may be used to convert stationing from one measurement value to another on the same alignment.

Reported Extent: Engineering stations are recorded from construction plans for all projects that have completed and are open-to-traffic.
