Description: This dataset is derived from the data collected by the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments in the year 2024 from each municipality in the Council's region for the purpose of complying with "Transmission of digital parcel file. Annual report." Conn. Gen. Stat. ยง 7-100l (2018). This data is provided as a service to assist stakeholders, GIS users and community members in gathering information for a variety of needs and describes assessed real property in the SECOG region of Connecticut. Parcel data was received by SECOG staff from municipalities and vendors serving municipalities in the region. Parcel data was then reformatted, if needed, to comply with the standard schema provided by the CT GIS Office. Assessment data was received by SECOG staff from municipalities in CSV form and imported into ArcGIS as a table. This dataset is produced from a join between the parcel data and the CAMA data using the Link and Parcel Link fields, keeping only the fields listed below. Link field was also reformatted for some towns to match special characters or number format. Link field was then re-calculated for all data to append the town ID number and hyphen to the beginning of the link field to ensure uniqueness across all towns.Minor revisions were made to parcel attributes such as formatting some text into title case and rearranging text in Location field to appear more uniform across the region. A field was added for GIS-calculated acreage. Parcel types provided in the schema included Standard(1), Condominium(2), State ROW(3), Municipal ROW(4), Railroad ROW(5), Private ROW(7), Water Feature(8), and Paper Street(9). Parcel types added by SECOG were Error(00) and Building(6). Most parcels had to be classified into parcel type after submission by using a combination of information from the corresponding CAMA record and other data sources like the CT DOT. Parcels were designated 'Error' if the parcel was a sliver or out of bounds and no corresponding CAMA record could be found. This dataset only includes parcel types: Standard, Condo, Building, Private ROW, and Paper Street.Some parcel geometry was edited only to add parcels where a building was missing a corresponding underlying parcel, and closing holes in parcels where buildings were punched out. Topology was not used.Parcel data was collected between April and June 2024. "Updated to" date varies between towns. SECOG only collects the data, it does not update parcel data for individual towns. Information may have changed between the date the data was last updated and the date it is viewed, and so this data should be considered a snapshot in time. For discrepancies or errors in this dataset, please contact the respective municipality in which the parcel is located. Complete statewide datasets are available for download through the CT State GIS Office.This data should be used for informational and planning purposes only, and should not be used as a legal description of boundaries.
