Description: The boundaries for the original thirteen Peel Public Health Data Zones were completed in 2010 under the supervision of Dr. Bruce Newbold, McMaster University. Additional information can be found on Peel’s Health Status Data website. A review of the data zones is required to account for growth and changes over time in Peel during the ten years between census periods and incorporate advancements in geospatial analytical techniques that could improve upon the methods used to generate the original zones. The goal of this update is consistent with the initial proposal of delineating a series of contiguous data zones for the purpose of health data dissemination within Peel. Like the original analysis, the updated method proposes the utilization of a multivariate structured approach using census variables (2016) that reflect social determinants of health (SDOH)A detailed approach to the creation and delineation of the updated (2021) Peel Health Data Zones can be found here
