Type: Feature Layer

Description: IntroductionThis layer is constructed from derived data. Multiple historic maps were used to identify and classify the historic hydrology for the St. Louis, MO region. The process for constructing the historic hydrology is iterative and remains a work in progress. Initial construction began in March of 2012 and updates are applied on an "as needed" basis.MethodologyThe scanned and georeferenced historic maps were used as a base map and guide for identifying the historic hydrology. Polygon features were drawn along the edges of lakes visible on the maps.Sources“City of St. Louis, Missouri and City of Chicago, Illinois” published by J. H.
