This web service displays the modelled flood extent and depth for the 1% AEP flood at Muddy Creek, Oamaru, in both the present day and in future climate change scenarios (RCP 8.5); as per the "Muddy Creek Flood Study" report prepared for the Waitaki District Council, May 2026.

Scenarios

The scenarios modelled are described below:

Scenario 1: 1% annual flood in present day conditions (current climate).

Scenario 2: 1% annual flood in a future climate scenario (RCP 8.5).

 

1% annual flood = 1% chance of a flood of this size happening in any year.
