Description: This dataset describes the Parcel dataset for the area of interest in Jamaica. This dataset is part of a series of features relating to parcel maps required for the development of an Enterprise GIS by the National Land Agency of Jamaica.The Cadastral Index was originally created from enclosure plans. Enclosure plans are property boundary datasets that were originally created by Valuation Surveyors operating within the field and were predominantly sketches of what exists on land. The Cadastral Index dataset is constantly updated through a standard process of maintenance using approved survey plans and approved subdivision plans where available.The maintenance process is initiated mostly by Business processes such as valuation customer request, land title request or the request of internal customers. In-house updates are also done as needs are identified.The Cadastral Index dataset is maintained daily so the entire dataset has varying levels of currency. The most current areas are based on the Business processes that require these updates to be done. The dataset is not homogeneously updated at any one given time. The Cadastral Index (Parcel) dataset is projected to JAD2001 with the WGS84 Datum.
