<div>This feature layer displays the study area boundary of the Upper James River Collaborative, covering the Jackson and Cowpasture river watersheds in Highland, Bath and Allegheny counties, Virginia.</div><div><br /></div><div><span style='font-weight:bold;'>Purpose:</span></div><div>To describe the watershed-based boundary (and approach) of the Upper James Collaborative project, a joint effort between <a href='https://cowpastureriver.org/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow ugc noopener noreferrer'>Cowpasture River Preservation Association</a> (CRPA), Highlanders for Responsible Development (HRD) and <a href='https://virginianreview.com/255230/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow ugc noopener noreferrer'>Jackson River Preservation Association</a> (JRPA) to better understand and protect water quality and environmental integrity in the Upper James River watershed.</div><div><br /></div><div><span style='font-weight:bold;'>Source & Date:</span></div><div>Data from the <a href='https://www.usgs.gov/national-hydrography/watershed-boundary-dataset' target='_blank' rel='nofollow ugc noopener noreferrer'>USGS Watershed Boundary Dataset</a> for Subregion 0208 was downloaded from the <a href='https://www.usgs.gov/national-hydrography/access-national-hydrography-products' target='_blank' rel='nofollow ugc noopener noreferrer'>data access page</a> in shapefile format on 3/26/24.</div><div><br /></div><div><span style='font-weight:bold;'>Processing:</span></div><div>Watershed boundaries (HUC10) for Subregion 0208 were extracted based on guidance from project participants. These watershed boundaries were merged together into a single polygon boundary of the project area. The resulting shapefile was uploaded to ArcGIS Online and published as a feature layer.<br /></div>Data from the USGS Watershed Boundary Dataset for Subregion 0208 was downloaded from the data access page in shapefile format on 3/26/24.
