Description: This feature service is intended to include all of the dam inundation areas for dams within Marin County.

This currently includes the following dams:

Alpine (MMWD)
Big Rock (Lucas Film)
Bon Tempe (MMWD)
Ken aka Peters (MMWD)
Lagunitas (MMWD)
Nicasio aka Seegar (MMWD)
Phoenix (MMWD)
Redwood (Waste Management, Inc)
Soulajule (MMWD)
Stafford aka Novato Creek (NMWD)
Vonsen (Dolcini)

Missing are four dams under the jurisdiction of NPS / National Park Service, one under the jurisdiction of MCOE / Marin County Office of Education, a small & very remote dam in Mill Valley, and perhaps others. Some of these can be referenced on the Corps of Engineers National Inventory of Dams at https://nid.sec.usace.army.mil/#/dams/search/sy=@countyState:Marin,%20California&viewType=map&resultsType=dams&advanced=false&hideList=false&eventSystem=false

The intent is to use this for 1) LHMP / Local Hazard Mitigation Plan hazard analysis work and 2) public & internal general use to understand areas which would be hazard zones during the failure of any dam.

The inundation areas for each individual dam are loaded into the county's alert & warning system, SA / COPO map tools, and the Public Emergency Portal Public Map for use during any actual dam failure.

The information is sourced from the dam operator (if provided to us) or the CA DWR's DOSOD / Department of Water Resources' Division of Safety of Dams. See https://fmds.water.ca.gov/maps/damim/

The source of the individual dam inundation zones are the dam operators.
